Congratulations... You Have Just Found

The Perfect Gift

For The Coming Holiday Season

No need to comb through store after store, website after website, hour after hour searching for

The Perfect Gift

Dear Seeker of the Perfect Gift,

How many years have you anticipated the shopping day right after Thanksgiving with dread? How many years have you gotten up at 4:00 a.m. just so you can stand in line (and freeze your...various body parts off) for the store to open at 6:30 a.m.? How many traffic jams have you endured to find your friends and loved ones just the right gift?

We feel your pain! Enough is enough! The Cookbook Kidz are happy to announce our 1st Annual Fundraising Cookbook- Gotta Eat is available just in time to save you from your annual battle. This year you get to relax (in the warmth and comfort of your own home) because you have found the perfect gift.

Gotta Eat was compiled, these past 9 months, by a group of older teenage foster kids-The Cookbook Kidz- involved in life skills classes provided by the Devereux Independent Living Transition Services (ILTS) program. We cajoled. We begged. We promised the moon to get the help we needed to bring you your perfect gift.

Your new perfect gift includes:
  • 375 pages of over 1000 recipes for every level of cooking skills
  • Dozens of inspirational quotes to ponder as you prepare the delicious recipes
  • Recipes include no baking required, easy baking, microwave cooking,
          crock pot cooking and more
  • 14 sections  separated by the original artwork inserts
  • And we didn't forget to add a few pages for notes and a handy re-order form

Not only does your perfect gift include all of above it also comes with a number of “hidden” benefits.

We began this project with one objective- to raise money to develop a transitional house for foster kids as they reach their 18th birthday. Typically, foster kids are given a birthday cake and then asked to leave their home and go out into the world. Most of the time, the young people lack the skills they need to make it in the mainstream world and they fall back on the world they knew with their abusive or neglectful family. Statistically, if former foster kids don't connect with the mainstream world by the time they are 25 years old, they will probably remain on the fringes of society for the rest of their adult lives. Additionally, they will have children that are highly likely to become foster kids themselves.

And the cycle continues. We are trying to break the cycle and open new doors.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words. We invite you to take the time to open this door. The attached video clip is about 7 minutes long and well worth your time if you are interested in learning a little bit more about the journey facing foster kids as they enter adulthood.
